Position: Grant Accountant
Location: Spokane, WA
Compensation: $90,000 - 100,000
Schedule: Full-time, Hybrid (1 day onsite)
Job Summary:
NOW CFO is partnering with a nonprofit focused on improving the lives of low-income, marginalized communities. Creating a culture that promotes a growth mindset for diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a Grant Accountant, you will support the Finance Department with accounting and administrative tasks, ensuring coordination across departments on financial requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
Responsibilities:
Finance Department Support:
- Support Finance Department operations and ensure financial deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with the Controller to develop annual work plans, monthly deliverables, and budget requirements.
- Coordinate with teams to align on financial requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
- Act as Proxy for the Controller as needed.
Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Stay updated on best practices in accounting, technology, and grants management.
- Assist with reports for annual audit and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Reconcile accounts and support month-end closing tasks.
- Assist with year-end closing, audits, and proper expense classification.
- Organize financial documentation for accounts receivable invoicing.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
- Maintain internal controls and assist with updates.
- Identify and recommend improvements for processes, financial risks, and compliance issues.
Payroll & Budget Support:
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll and collaborate on benefit updates.
- Assist with budget-related questions and communications.
Accounts Payable & Grant Compliance:
- Supervise and support accounts payable.
- Assist with financial grant compliance and contract management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 3 years of progressive accounting experience, or 5 years of demonstrated growth in responsibilities.
- Ability to recognize disparities or inequalities in areas such as access to resources, opportunities, or outcomes
- A growth mindset, with a desire to teach and learn.
- Preferred: Non-profit Fund & Budget Experience
- Preferred: Sage Intact Experience
