Job Description and Profile:
The Controller at Now Optics will be a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the head of accounting, and responsible for the companys financial health and operational efficiency. This role will oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and auditing processes. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a proven track record of financial management, and the ability to leverage technology, including AI, to streamline processes and drive business growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership & Strategy:

Lead the accounting department, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team.

Provide strategic insights related to accounting policies, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and accounting reports.

Ensure adherence to GAAP, company policies, and industry best practices.

Monitoring expenditures to ensure they align with budgeted amounts.

Implementing internal controls to prevent overspending.
Financial Reporting & Audit Compliance:

Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

Manage the annual financial audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors to ensure timely completion.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and tax filings.

Maintain and refine internal controls and accounting processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.

Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting as the company grows.
Team Leadership & Development:

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team, promoting professional development.

Develop and implement training programs to ensure the team is well-versed in accounting best practices and emerging technologies.

Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the accounting department.
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement:

Evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of accounting functions.

Leverage automation and AI-driven tools to streamline accounting workflows, reduce manual tasks, and improve reporting accuracy.

Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate systems that support better financial controls and reporting.

Analyze accounting data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Audit Experience preferred

Strong knowledge of financial auditing processes, internal controls, and financial reporting standards (GAAP).

Proven ability to lead and develop a diverse team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Expertise in leveraging AI, automation tools, and financial software to improve business efficiency and decision-making.
