Job Summary: The IV Nurse Per-Diem is responsible for providing intravenous therapy to patients in various healthcare settings. This role requires a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with expertise in IV procedures and patient care. The IV Nurse will work on a per-diem basis, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work in different environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer intravenous medications, fluids, and blood products as prescribed by physicians.
- Perform venipuncture and insert IV lines at various locations on the patient's body.
- Monitor and maintain IV lines, ensuring proper flow and preventing complications.
- Assess and document patient responses to IV therapy, including any adverse reactions.
- Educate patients and their families about IV therapy procedures and care.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines for IV therapy.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN or LVN license.
- Certification in IV therapy (preferred).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in IV therapy or related field.
- Strong knowledge of IV procedures, equipment, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work on a per-diem basis, including weekends and holidays.
