- About the Role :
- We are seeking a
- Digital Content Accessibility Specialist
- to join our Information Technology department. This role involves advancing digital accessibility initiatives across the organization, ensuring websites, digital content, and applications comply with ADA Title II and WCAG 2.1 AA standards. You will be part of a small, dedicated team focused on creating inclusive digital experiences for all users.
- Key Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including faculty, website owners, and application teams, to enhance digital accessibility compliance.
- Use tools like WAVE technologies to evaluate accessibility and provide actionable recommendations.
- Train and support staff on accessibility best practices and compliance requirements.
- Drive progress toward meeting federal and national accessibility regulations.
- Partner with technical teams to review and improve websites and applications, applying expertise in web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, ARIA).
- Work with platforms such as WordPress, JIRA, PeopleSoft, Office 365, Blackboard, and Confluence.
- Manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure accessibility requirements are clearly understood and effectively implemented.

- Education :
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience :
- Strong technical knowledge of digital accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience working with web development technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) and accessibility tools (e.g., ARIA, WAVE).
- Proven ability to consult with and train diverse audiences on accessibility.
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Technical Skills :
- Proficiency in accessibility assessment tools and web development technologies.
- Knowledge of federal and national accessibility standards, including ADA and WCAG compliance.
- Certifications :
- Accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS, DHS Trusted Tester) are preferred but not required.
- Soft Skills :
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
