Job description : The Mechanic operates under the general or direct oversight of the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor, engaging in troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, repair, and construction activities within mining and surface environments. A maintenance proficiency test is required for eligibility.This is a 2nd shift role.
- Primary Duties :
- Exhibit a strong understanding of various skills, including welding, rigging, electrical work, pipe fitting, and machinery repair.
- Diagnose and maintain mining equipment efficiently.
- Understand and follow instructions provided in written, verbal, or visual formats while keeping team members updated on job progress.
- Perform basic carpentry and painting tasks as required.
- Support and guide less experienced team members in machinery repairs.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks with minimal guidance.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment and maintain tools in good condition.
- Complete other related tasks as assigned. Qualifications :
- Requirements :
- At least 2 years of relevant shop experience, or completion of a training program.
- Must successfully pass a mechanics assessment with a minimum score of 70%.
- Skills and Competencies :
- Proficient in reading safety guidelines, operating manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Capable of solving practical problems and adapting to varied situations.
- Strong focus on safety to prevent injuries in the workplace.
- Physically able to lift heavy loads and work in varying weather conditions.
- Availability for overtime and the ability to work at heights.
- Work Environment :
- Duties include cleaning, operating heavy machinery, welding, and conducting repairs in all weather conditions.
