Summary: Supports various shop activities and duties while gaining knowledge of the business to assist in other areas as needed.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Read production schedules and work orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Transport and deliver parts or materials between departments using an overhead crane, powered pallet jack, and/or forklift.
- Stage materials and parts for production processes.
- Ensure materials are available and ready for use in production.
- Coordinate with production teams to meet material needs.
- Place in-process parts and kits, not yet needed for production, in appropriate storage areas.
- Arrange materials and equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
- Clean and grind off excess slag on burned parts to prepare for machining.
- Help maintain overall cleanliness in the shop, around work areas, and outside in the yard.
- Sweep and clean floors using a mop or floor scrubber.
- Separate and dispose of garbage and scrap materials, keeping garbage cans and chip bins empty throughout the shop.
- Willingness and ability to work any shift as required.
- Undertake other duties as needed and assigned to support team objectives.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Education Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, production schedules, safety rules, procedures, etc
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to following safety guidelines and maintaining a clean work environment
- Valid driver’s license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything over 50 pounds will be moved with a forklift or overhead crane. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
