Linux Enterprise System Administrator is responsible for managing the operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems, software applications, and associated hardware.
Their primary goal is to ensure the seamless operation of Linux systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Develop a strategy for common management process of client operating system deployment and environment configuration.
- Dual boot Ubuntu/Windows systems configuration, support and management within JumpCloud environment.
- Modernizing our operational computer lifecycle management by transforming processes to adopt user self-serve provisioning that must minimize disruption to the business, reduce costs, with a high focus on end user experience making it as transparent as possible to the end user.
- A standard structure and optimized process to follow for computer provisioning/imaging, hardware deployment activities, and hardware standards to ensure the deployment is consistently carried out across all global locations.
- Overall process focus will maintain continuous input from our global business users to effectively understand their client computing requirements and ensure it clearly aligns with our standards and processes.
- Establish metrics criteria to be used to assess key principles are being achieved.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux operating systems and services.
- Ensuring the security and efficiency of IT infrastructure by managing system updates and patches.
- Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.
- Providing technical support and guidance to users.
- Understanding administrative concepts such as Proxy, Network routing, Firewalls, DNS.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
- Level 3 advanced Troubleshooting skills, ability to analyze complex technical challenges and issues.
- Strong working knowlege with JumpCloud.
- Advanced Linux RHEL system administration skills.
- Operating system image configuration and build.
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and commands.
- Experience with shell scripting and automation tools.
- Knowledge of networking and system administration.
- Ability to manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures.
- Development of applications, tools, and scripts to support end users as required. Troubleshooting complex issues.
- Development of custom MECM reports for OSD deployment health and monitoring, Office 365 rollout dashboard.
- Experience managing incidents, updating incidents and service updates, some on-site work is required.
- Excellent communication and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize day-to-day responsibilities
- Analytical aptitude, to break down situation and critical think about issues or solutions
- Ability to articulate complex technical ideas in simple verbiage, able to work collaboratively in a complex, rapidly changing, and culturally diverse environment
