The Site Coordinator is essential in managing the daily operations of the Community Rec Center Learning Lab, focusing on program delivery and site functionality to help bridge the digital divide in the community. This role ensures that all equipment is operational and accessible, creating a welcoming environment for digital learning.

In addition to overseeing site operations, the Site Coordinator provides direct guidance and support to community members in developing a wide range of digital skills—from basic computer use and internet navigation to troubleshooting devices and accessing online services. Through one-on-one assistance, small group workshops, and tailored digital literacy programs, the Site Coordinator fosters an approachable and knowledgeable atmosphere, empowering individuals to overcome digital barriers and achieve personal, educational, and employment goals. Support is available in person, by phone, email, chat, and walk-in, ensuring a responsive and comprehensive approach to community needs.

Responsibilities and Duties

Support and Issue Resolution

  • Triage and troubleshoot support issues, escalating as needed.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting for basic hardware and software issues on devices like computers, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Assist with access to essential online services such as job applications, educational platforms, and government services.

Documentation and Tracking

  • Record and document issues and service requests in Zendesk.
  • Log attendance and track lab usage for resource planning and reporting.
  • Collect and securely store demographic data volunteered by participants.
  • Monitor and report on participant progress in digital skills, identifying trends and opportunities for further engagement.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Management

  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on Learning Lab desktops based on user activity.
  • Reset and prepare equipment between classes and workshops.
  • Identify and report any equipment in need of repair promptly.
  • Technology Resource Management

  • Ensure all Learning Lab software is licensed and secure.
  • Provide information on affordable technology resources, device repair services, and low-cost internet-connected devices.
  • Learning Environment Management

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized Learning Lab environment conducive to learning.
  • Client Assistance and Instruction
  • Support community members with using technology, such as computers, mobile devices, and software applications.
  • Offer guidance on internet navigation, setting up email accounts, and accessing online resources.
  • Educate users on safe internet practices, including privacy protection and recognizing online threats.
  • Workshops and Training

  • Conduct digital literacy workshops and training sessions tailored to various skill levels.
  • Collaboration and Resource Improvement

  • Work with management to enhance technology resources to align with community needs.
  • Professional Development and Knowledge Update

  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, tools, and digital literacy best practices to better serve the community.
  • Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • C ompleted IT Fundamentals or A certification
  • Able to work in a remote environment with remote tools to resolve technical issues and requests.
  • Proficient in basic IT support, including software troubleshooting, hardware usage, and internet navigation.
  • Experience in community engagement or education, particularly in underserved populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others overcome digital challenges.
  • Knowledge of digital literacy initiatives and resources available to the public.
  • Experience in leading workshops, training sessions, or one-on-one instruction is a plus.
