What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Press Brake Lead (Mon - Thurs, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM) position at NPSG Global?
The Press Brake Lead is responsible for the management and oversight of the brake work center, including training employees on the operation of equipment. The Press Brake Lead will also prioritize work orders in relation to the production schedule, and ensure all operations are clocked in MIE Trak in accordance with MFG Global operational standards. The Lead will also ensure a safe work environment by working with the Sr. Technical Specialist, Automation Supervisor, and Production Manager.
Responsibilities:
- CNC press brake programming.
- Read and comprehend shop drawings/blueprints.
- Lead set up person for Amada equipment.
- Place metal stock in the designated press brake machine, operate the machine and bend material according to specifications.
- First piece, in process, and final inspections; own others forming work.
- Ensure work is documented accurately in MIE Trak, including clock-ins/outs.
- Completing all duties as assigned, while making the most efficient use of time, raw materials, and equipment.
- Work as a team and communicate effectively with management and all employees.
- 7S, keep the work area clean and organized.
- Performs daily/weekly/monthly preventive maintenance on machines.
- Cross-train on various machines.
- Misc. projects and prototyping.
- Working 40 to 50 hour work week dependent on production needs.
- Work within all safety guidelines and ensure employees within the Press Brake work center are following all safety protocols.
- Obey all company OSHA, and other state and federal agencies’ safety regulations.
- Train and direct other press brake employees.
- All other items as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to work individually with little supervision.
- Ability to discern between the following types of materials:
- Carbon Hot Rolled Steel/Cold Rolled Steel
- Aluminum
- Stainless Steels
- Experience/familiarity with Amada systems.
- LEAN manufacturing understanding and knowledge.
- Ability to read measuring tools including protractor and caliper, Fabrivision and scanning instruments preferred.
- Strong math skills, ability to multiply, divide, add and subtract in all units of measure.
- Additional math skills relating to algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Strong working knowledge of bend allowances.
- Manual dexterity.
- Capable of reading blueprints.
- Comfortable with power tools and manual tools.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED & Additional equipment certification training is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in a Metal fabrication shop working with similar equipment and materials.
- Minimum of three years CNC experience.
- Prefer 6 years of experience specifically with new automated press brake machines.
- 1 years of forklift experience.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Manufacturing environment with intermittent noise and long periods of standing in a warehouse-type physical space, with exposure to noise and dust in hot and cold climates.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, and kneel.
- Normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and normal hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids).
- Must have good hand and eye coordination.
- Must wear steel-toed shoes.
