What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sandblaster (Monday - Thursday, 5:00AM - 3:30PM) position at NPSG Global?
The sandblaster uses abrasive blasting equipment to remove paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt. The sandblaster’s control of the pressure and direction of the abrasive material is vital for preventing surface damage and injury to coworkers. The sandblaster is responsible for shoveling or pouring sand, grit, or other abrasive material into the machine, and monitoring and maintaining an adequate supply of the abrasive in the hopper.
Responsibilities:
- Before the abrading action, the sandblaster protects specific areas of the work surface using masking film, tape, and rubber.
- Responsible for lifting, carrying, and setting up heavy equipment and parts onto racks, into tumbling barrels, or into cabinets.
- Preparing parts for the paint shop, steam cleaning motors and chassis, and other general labor may be included in the sandblaster’s job duties.
- Maintenance of the sandblasting equipment, such as cleaning and changing nozzles. To prevent accidents
- Keep the work area clean and orderly, and that any unsafe working conditions are corrected or reported immediately.
- Maintains the 7S method in the department.
- Must follow all NPSG policies and procedures including, safety, housekeeping, attendance, quality, and administration.
- Ability to work 40-50 hour work weeks, dependent on production needs.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Works safely and in compliance with NPSG Global safety protocols and policies. Actively avoids and mitigates safety hazards to self and others.
- Ability to read and accurately execute work orders with minimal direction.
- High attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work in a team environment as a self-motivated, collaborative team player, with minimal supervision.

- Must be able to work at least 40-50 hours per week.

Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Sand blasting certifications preferred.
Sand Blaster I:
- 1-4 years of sand blasting experience.
- 1-4 experience sand blasting diverse metals.
- Minimum of 1-4 years previous experience in a metal fabrication shop working with similar equipment and materials preferred.
- 1 years of forklift experience.
Sand Blaster II:
- 5 years of sand blasting experience.
- 5 experience sand blasting diverse metals.
- Minimum of 5 years previous experience in a metal fabrication shop working with similar equipment and materials preferred.
- 3 years of forklift experience.
_ Work Environment/Physical Demands:_
- Manufacturing environment with intermittent noise and long periods of standing in a warehouse-type physical space, with exposure to noise and dust in hot and cold climates.
- Must be able to work at least 40 hours per week.
- Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, squat, twist, and kneel.
- Must be able to use personal protective equipment required in the safe execution of sand blasting, including a respirator and/or hood.
- Must be able to safely work in a confined space for extended periods.
- Normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and normal hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids).
- Must have good hand and eye coordination.
- Must wear steel-toed shoes.
