What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at NRA?
LOCATION: Fairfax, VA onsite Monday - Friday, full-time with benefits
SUMMARY: Performs maintenance and utility tasks in the upkeep of NRA Headquarters facilities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist Senior Building Engineer with minor construction tasks and carpentry in a timely and cost effective manner as directed.
2. Perform repairs on office furniture in a timely and cost effective manner as directed.
3. Set up tables and chairs in conference rooms throughout the building in preparation for NRA functions in a timely manner as directed.
4. Assist with office moves, moving furniture between and within offices in a timely manner as directed.
5. Hang pictures, plaques, bulletin boards and mounts on walls in a timely and professional manner as directed.
6. Deliver copier paper to departments in an accurate and timely manner as directed.
7. Provide back-up support to the Mailroom for delivery of Federal Express, UPS, packages, incoming and interoffice mail as directed.
8. Transport materials and boxes between various departments in a timely manner as directed.
9. Assist with transportation of IS equipment and other materials needed for the quarterly Board of Directors meeting.
10. Assist in the set up/tear down of holiday decorations as directed in a timely manner.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
SCOPE: High visibility with departmental staff, as well as NRA employees, and all divisions within the NRA. Position functions in a fast paced work environment with shifting work priorities. Position functions with minimal direct supervision and requires regular bending, standing, lifting, loading and carrying of items up to 75 lbs. No out-of-area travel required. Occasional overtime required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience with routine maintenance tasks.
KNOWELDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES: Ability to follow verbal instructions required. Excellent organizational skills are essential. Proven ability to interface effectively with employees. Demonstrated mechanical ability relative to light jobs (i.e., picture hanging, changing cylinders on office chairs, etc.) essential.
