What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Hunter Education Coordinator position at NRA?
LOCATION: Onsite, NRA Headquarters, M-F, full-time
SUMMARY: Provide programmatic and administrative support to the NRA Hunting, Conservation and Ranges Division programs, projects and services with primary emphasis on NRA's Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) to ensure smooth operations of departmental activities. Knowledge of and support for the mission of the National Rifle Association. Pre-employment background checks required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate, organize, implement and maintain the outreach efforts, within departmental guidelines, the activities of the NRA's Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) program as directed.
2. Assist in and support the National Manager, NRA Hunting, Conservation and Ranges with the expansion of the volunteer YHEC State Coordinator program. Duties will include reviewing new candidate applications, interviewing possible candidates with the National Manager and working with existing coordinators to provide up to date YHEC activities reports.
3. Assist in the timely marketing and promotional campaigns to include design and implementation, within departmental guidelines, all external mailings, email blasts, and magazine articles for the promotion of YHEC events on an as needed basis. All marketing and promotions must be approved by appropriate Departmental/Divisional Supervisors.
4. Coordinate and update, within departmental guidelines, programmatic information on appropriate YHEC program websites in an accurate and timely manner. All edits should be approved by the National Manager, NRA Hunting and submitted through the Managing Director, NRA Hunting for submission.
5. Assist in the review and revision of the educational materials for the NRA's Youth Hunter Education Challenge Program and other departmental programs.
6. Support the National Manager, NRA Hunting with YHEC material inventory levels sufficient to maintain a continuing, uninterrupted flow in an accurate and timely manner.
7. Assist in the operations of the NRA's Great American Outdoor Show, NRA Annual Meeting and other events as needed.
8. Provide exemplary customer service to volunteers, NRA members and the public relative to inquiries, requests, and comments regarding NRA Hunting programs as well as general knowledge of other areas of NRA in an accurate and timely manner.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
SCOPE: High visibility with divisional personnel, volunteers, other NRA divisions, NRA membership, outside agencies, vendors and the public. Position functions in a varying and fast paced work environment. Supervision varies from minimal to maximum depending on the project, program or activity. Occasional overtime work required. Travel requirements are minimal. Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 50 lbs. of materials required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A four-year college degree in education, business administration or related field required, but may be waived with equivalent work experience and skills. A minimum of three years like business knowledge in a professional setting required. Experience and knowledge in hunting and the shooting sports, with a minimum of three years' experience in outdoor education required. Background in education, advertising, marketing, business writing and editing preferred. Experience in training and instruction required, preferably within the field of hunter education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Understanding of the structure of state hunter education programs is essential. Preferred to have hunting experience and is active in the hunting arena. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team required. Proven ability to supervise and motivate program volunteers. Excellent organizational skills are essential with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously required. Working knowledge of Microsoft software packages including but not limited to; Microsoft Office, Outlook, and PowerPoint required. A willingness to learn new software and database programs is essential.
