Job Title: Chemical Operator
Position Summary
Technician position working in a laboratory setting. Responsible for certain laboratory tasks as directed by supervision including precious metal reclaim, Distillation/extraction, and various chemical handling and process functions.
Essential Functions
- Assist in precious metal reclaim process including melting, fluxing, harvesting, working in glove boxes, pouring ingots and other parts of the process.
- Working in the isotope lab as needed.
- Perform multiple functions in a lab environment including mixing materials, rolling, punching and plating
- Assist in process review and recommend improvements.
- Collect samples and submit to Quality Control for final verification.
- Assist in maintenance activities as required.
- Fill paper and chemical supplies as necessary and general housekeeping duties.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience handling chemicals in a production/manufacturing environment
- Proven oral and written communication skills required.
- Must be detail orientated
- Ability to use computer
Interdepartmental Communications: will need to work seamlessly with other members of the NRD Sales Team, Engineering Group, Operations personnel, Administration Team, and members of the Management team. In so doing, it is paramount and expected that the individual will foster open lines of communication, and professionalism will be demonstrated in all of their interactions.
Work Environment
- Work environment is consistent with that of typical manufacturing environment with multiple operations (Lab, Rolling Mills, Plating, Assembly Work Benches, Mechanical equipment, Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing, Quality Testing) with regular exposure to moving mechanical systems with low to moderate noise level, in a temperature and humidity controlled area.
