Position Overview:
As a Program/Production Support Specialist I, you will be responsible for providing administrative and program support to the Waterfront Operations department. This includes performing data input, extraction, analysis, and assisting with condition report writing, scheduling, and logistical coordination. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regular, reliable onsite attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Responsible for office organization for assigned teams.
- Provide support in developing, implementing, and marketing program/project functions.
- Serve as a liaison between programs, other departments, and external constituencies on operational and administrative issues.
- Facilitate training, meetings, special projects, and problem resolution.
- Review, verify accuracy, and submit condition reports to the government.
- Ensure compliance with government standardization requirements and submit reports in correlation.
- Maintain, verify accuracy, and update required report logs.
- Assist with development of schedules and charts.
- Support condition report writing as needed, in line with contract objectives.
- Perform specialized activities per contract requirements.
- Supervise tasks and train others as appropriate.
- Interact professionally with government personnel, contractors, and employees.
- Maintain specialized or sensitive records, manage databases, and work with spreadsheets.
- Coordinate and keep records for issuing vehicle passes, badges, property control forms, and more.
- Ensure adherence to NASSCO-Norfolk Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.
- Operate office machines such as copiers, fax machines, and calculators.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A/BS in Business Administration or related academic field or
- AA/AS plus 1 year of related experience or 3 years directly related experience.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience in making professional presentations.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to self-manage with strong interpersonal skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of NASSCO’s policies and procedures is a plus.
- Ability to obtain Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) within 6 months.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to climb vertical ladders and scaffolding, and work at heights.
- Ability to commute to various areas of the shipyard.
- Occasional exposure to dust, welding fumes, and noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions and physically navigate the shipyard environment.
