Postdoctoral Researcher in Milky Way Survey Science
NOIRLab invites applications for a postdoctoral position with Dr. Aaron Meisner to develop MostWISE, the deepest and most accurate all-sky catalog of mid-infrared proper motions using WISE imaging. The postdoc will also lead solar neighborhood and/or Milky Way science investigations (e.g., ultracool dwarfs, young moving groups) based on MostWISE.
The successful candidate will join NOIRLab’s dynamic research community (link) and should have a strong interest in large-scale astronomical data processing and Milky Way science. Ideal applicants will be motivated to take on new projects, learn new skills, publish scientific results, and work independently.
- Duration: Up to 3 years
- Start Date: Late 2025

- Location: Tucson, AZ; Hilo, HI; or remote in eligible U.S. states (AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, HI, KY, MA, MD, NM, TN, TX, VA, WA)
- Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, or a related field at the start of the position
- Proficiency in Python programming
- Experience in image processing, batch processing, survey science, astrometry, or building wide-area data products is desirable
- Self-motivated, independent, and highly organized
