What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at NSG Group?
Purpose :
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for increasing the efficiency of multiple aspects of the Float Glassmaking process by reducing downtime and continuous improvement of control systems and electrical equipment.
This may include troubleshooting electrical equipment, I&C, implementing new technologies, training maintenance personnel, and encouraging "out-of-the-box" thinking and ideas.
Essential Functions :
- Direct and coordinate continuous improvement activities utilizing data driven problem solving techniques - 5S, Kaizens, Kanban, Problem Solving (8D / 5-Why), Six Sigma, ME360, Gemba Walks
- Project Management of all projects involving external contractors and ensure contractors working on site adhere to all plant safety policies
- Develop, maintain & update electrical and site drawings as required via AutoCAD
- Assist in the commissioning of new plant equipment and systems following structured change process
- Responsible for leading design changes and equipment overhauls involving new control systems or newly tied in controlled systems
- Conducting training with applicable personnel for system operations to increase awareness and operation capability
- Set up, program, verify, and modify electrical controls panels, circuitry, and equipment
- Continuous improvement of control systems and processes
- Program, troubleshoot and repair PLC's (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Eurotherm)
- Assist in training and advanced troubleshooting as required with Maintenance
- Experience with programming of HMI / SCADA software (iFix, FTView, Ignition)
- Experience with programming servo and inverter drives (Yaskawa, TECO, Allen Bradley, etc.)
- Maintain electrical skills and knowledge through continual education classes
- Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, relay logic and ladder diagrams
