The Healthcare Claims Analyst will analyze healthcare claims data from multiple sources and use company models and tools to create output to support pricing, risk selection, underwriting decision making, and risk management. The right candidate will need to be analytical, resourceful, self-motivated, and an excellent communicator who is willing to speak up and offer ideas and suggestions. Someone who possess a willing spirit and is ready to jump in and independently advance projects and key priorities will succeed best in this role!
This role provides the opportunity to learn the science and art of managed care underwriting alongside the most experienced team in the market. This role could develop into a professional underwriting position depending on the career path pursued.
*Ideally, this position will be located in our Minnesota office but for the right candidate with significant experience a remote location can be considered.*
- Use raw client healthcare claim data and Carbon tools to generate analysis and output for underwriting pricing, decision making, risk selection and risk management.
- Perform initial underwriting review, conduct risk assessment and develop pricing recommendations.
- Partner with Senior Underwriters, construct proposal terms and conditions and develop offer to present to broker.
- In conjunction with Senior Underwriters, follow up on proposal and adjust terms with updated data or information.
- Facilitate request for proposal workflow and maintain electronic underwriting files to expedite underwriting decisions.
- Provide research and miscellaneous support to Senior Underwriters.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5 years' experience, preferably working with healthcare claims data files in a data analysis, underwriting or claims environment within Excel.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and handling interruptions.
- Successful at working independently and within a team environment.
- Can-do attitude and willingness to jump in when/where needed is key.
- Limited travel expected.
