Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic AWS Cloud Platform Automation Engineer to provide hands-on technical experience to codify their AWS footprint, including Security and Guardrails.
As an AWS Cloud Platform Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and integrating the cloud platform resources on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will collaborate with a team of talented cloud engineers and technology teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions that support the company's growth and innovation.
Responsibilities
Communicates architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies, emphasizing short-term trade-offs vs. long-term commitments and costs.
Engages in and improves the end-to-end lifecycle of services, from inception and design to deployment and operations.
Establishes automation capabilities leveraging cloud-native solutions to improve the developer experience.
Supports activities, including system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
Willingly rolls up their sleeves to troubleshoot difficult issues and engage the customer.
Willingly learns new AWS Services and other technologies as required.
Ensures systems scalability and sustainability by leveraging automation and strives to improve system reliability and velocity.
Actively helps guide customers on using Cloud-native design and architecture patterns.
Provides consultation on technology infrastructure planning and engineering for assigned systems; assesses the implications of technology strategies on infrastructure capabilities.
Establishes strategies to migrate legacy applications by converting them to multiple microservices and hosting them on the AWS Cloud platform.
Leverages cloud-native architecture components, including containers, immutable infrastructure, microservices, and service mesh, to build highly available and fault-tolerant applications.
Conducts research on global technology trends and their applicability to products to support internal development teams and business initiatives.
Promotes and ensures modern application design, applies engineering best practices in the development and operations lifecycle, and mitigates vulnerabilities.
Monitors and manages the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems and platforms across IT domains (e.g., systems, network, storage, security) by analyzing them to identify problems, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
Automates the end-to-end process to maintain (patches and upgrades) AWS Cloud ecosystem.
Makes data-driven recommendations and decisions and continuously improves the overall efficacy and efficiency of our software delivery capabilities.
Required Skills & Experience
At least one AWS certification and 10 years of IT experience, including 5 years in AWS cloud automation and administration.
Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS platform and services, including VPC, Subnets, NACLs, Security Groups, EC2, S3, IAM, ELBs, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and EKS.
Strong hands on experience with automation and infrastructure provisioning; the goal is to only provision infrastructure with code.
Experience coding using Python, Java, Groovy, Go, or similar for script automation.
Experience using Terraform for provisioning AWS services in the cloud.
Experience using Ansible for configuration management.
Experience using CloudFormation for product integration.
Experience using AWS CDK for defining and provisioning cloud infrastructure.
Proficiency writing Terraform plans, Ansible playbooks, and Python code.
Experience implementing and maintaining AWS Cloud in a production environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to hit the ground running.
Preferred Skills & Experience
FinOps Certification.
Solid understanding of various DevOps toolchains including Git/repo, Crucible, and Jenkins.
Solid experience in Linux administration with bash/shell scripting.
Hands-on experience with Containers, Amazon EKS, or ECS.
Hands-on experience writing Lambda functions, preferably in Python (Boto3).
