W2 Contract-to-Hire, 9 Months
This is a hybrid position. The selected candidate must be comfortable working onsite in Reston, VA once per week for collaboration and whiteboard sessions. Furthermore, the selected candidate must be comfortable coming onsite on an ad hoc basis.

Overview & Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect to join our dynamic team at a leading health insurance provider. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robust data architectures that support the entire enterprise, from product initiation to delivery. You will collaborate closely with solution architects and delivery teams to translate business requirements into effective data solutions across a diverse technology stack, including mainframe systems, MongoDB, and AWS (Aurora and Redshift). This role demands a versatile architect capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from supporting existing mainframe infrastructure to building new data structures in modern cloud environments.

Key responsibilities include:
Designing and implementing data models and architectures to support various business applications and initiatives.
Collaborating with solution architects to define data strategies and solutions during the product initiation phase.
Working with delivery teams to implement data solutions in physical layers, ensuring alignment with architectural designs.
Supporting and maintaining existing mainframe systems and databases (DB2).
Designing and implementing data architectures in MongoDB or AWS (Aurora and Redshift).
Creating and executing complex SQL queries for data analysis and manipulation.
Ensuring data integrity, security, and performance across all data platforms.
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to data engineers and developers.
Managing data model changes and ensuring seamless integration across diverse technologies.
Supporting multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to varying technology stacks and business requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:
5 years of experience as a dedicated Data Architect.
Proven experience in the healthcare and health insurance industry with a strong understanding of relevant information domains.
Demonstrated expertise in MongoDB data architecture and implementation -OR- AWS (Aurora and Redshift) data architecture and implementation.
Strong experience designing and incorporating data model changes in at least one relational database (Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2).
Expertise in creating and optimizing complex SQL queries.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience incorporating data model changes in a mainframe environment.
