Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Scrum Master to join their Data Exchange and Products team in their Operation Center. The Senior Scrum Master will be responsible for supporting teams focused on executing data warehousing, data integration, data transformation and business intelligence projects and operations. The company is a heavy matrix company; this resource will be responsible for working across various projects ensuring the day-to-day work is being completed (such as Scrum ceremonies) as well as analyzing the projects and coordinating and collaborating with other teams to a to accomplish the business goals. The team that the resource will be overseeing understands the Agile process and the projects are ongoing with a backlog. The team is a strong Data Engineering team, moving data from point A to point B to downstream consumers (this includes, customers and vendors).
In order to be successful, the Scrum Master will need to demonstrate their ability to work across the aisle; showing that they have handled issues working with outside teams. In this role, the resource will need to have a firm understanding of the end customer, the technologies that are being utilized, and the business goals. They will need to have the ability to speak not only with their teams, but with the customers and to the business at large.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate Sprint estimation, Sprint planning meetings to identify product backlog items to be worked in a sprint and to estimate level of effort of development activities.
- Lead daily standup meetings, track progress by keeping the sprint backlog up-to-date, and help to remove impediments.
- Conduct an end of sprint review meetings where sprint products are demonstrated to stakeholders.
- Conduct Sprint grooming, provide progress reports including but not limited to meta scrum report/burn-up/burn-down charts/User Story Point updates etc.
- Update Product Backlog Items to include new or revised requirements and backlog item.
- Foster collaboration and communication between team members on technical issues, on process improvements, and in addressing and escalating project risks and issues.
Required Skills & Experience
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and 5 years of proven experience as a Scrum Master.
- Proven experience transforming teams to Agile / Scrum from Waterfall or other methodologies.
- Hands on experience in Agile practices, Scrum process, Kanban, as an Agile Coach and/or Scrum Master.
- Proven experience applying Agile approach to data warehousing, data lake, and/or data integration projects namely crafting user stories and epics based on heavy data-driven technical efforts.
- Good understanding of end-to-end life cycle of ETL projects.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and Data Analysis.
- Proven leadership experience in IT delivery, building and sustaining high performing teams.
- Able to provide need-based coaching to team members to be agile and support agile delivery.
- Able to work cross-functionally and speak with customers.
- Excellent communication and partnership skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Understanding of healthcare business and data domain.
- Prior experience running Data Integration/ETL scrum teams.
- Prior experience running Big Data scrum teams.
- Scrum Coach, Product Owner, and/or SAFe certified.
