Title: Data Center System Engineer
Terms of Employment
• Permanent, Direct Hire
• This position is hybrid. Candidates must be comfortable working onsite three days per week in Washington, DC (20220).
Overview & Responsibilities
This role is critical for the maintenance, configuration, and support of our data center infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive practical experience to design, deploy, and manage a complex environment encompassing Nutanix Hypervisor, VMware, Windows and Linux servers, and various critical software systems. You will play a key role in maintaining compliance with FISMA requirements and participating in Disaster Recovery exercises. Responsibilities include:
• Infrastructure Management:
o Design, configure, deploy, and maintain data center hardware and software, including Nutanix Hypervisor, VMware, Windows servers, and Linux Red Hat systems.
o Implement and manage automation through tools like Ansible and Satellite.
o Administer core network services such as DNS and DHCP.
o Utilize Microsoft System Center/SCCM for system management and patching.
o Manage and maintain Veritas NetBackup for data backup and recovery.
o Utilize Beyond Trust to administrate elevated access.
o Manage and create GPO’s.
o Monitor the infrastructure using Science Logic.
• System Administration and Troubleshooting:
o Proactively monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex issues.
o Apply patches and updates to operating systems and applications.
o Ensure system security and compliance with relevant standards.
• Disaster Recovery and Compliance:
o Participate in and support Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises.
o Support FISMA audits and ensure compliance with security requirements.
• Security and Access Management:
o Manage systems access and permissions.
Required Skills and Experience
• Minimum of a High School diploma and 10 years of system administration experience in a data center environment.
• Practical skills, experience and training designing, configuring, deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, data center hardware and software including but not limited to Nutanix Hypervisor, VMware, Windows servers, Linux Red hat, Ansible, Satellite, Veritas NetBackup Microsoft System Center / SCCM Beyond Trust, GPO DNS, DHCP, Science Logic1 Beyond Trust, GPO, system. Performing DR Exercise and supporting FISMA Audit.
• At least one of the following certifications:
o MCA Microsoft Azure Admin
o RHCSA Linux Red Hat Certified System Administrator
o AWS SysOps Administrator
o Nutanix Certified Associate (NCA)
o Microsoft Certified: System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
o VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
Salary : $120,000
