A day in the life of an Environmental Staff Professional at NTH
- Collaborate with a tight-knit team of environmental professionals in a fast-paced work environment to provide sustainable solutions to a variety of clients.
- Support various markets and projects in achieving regulatory compliance, waste reduction, community development, and renewable energy goals.
- Conduct and prepare reports for commercial and industrial properties, such as:
- Hazardous Materials/Asbestos Surveys
- Phase I and II ESAs and vapor intrusion studies
- BEAs and Compliance Analysis or Due Care Plans
- Monitor drilling activities and collect soil, water and/or soil gas for laboratory analysis.
- Assist in developing technical specifications and bidding documents related to rehabilitation and demolition projects.
- Perform other field and office tasks, as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or comparable discipline.
- Hold certificate of accreditation from the State of Michigan for Asbestos Building Inspector.
- 2 years experience completing Hazardous Materials Surveys of commercial and industrial buildings.
- Must be able to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
- Experience performing environmental inspections and sampling programs.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to manage workload and solve problems to support client and team project needs.
- Must have exceptional communication and time management skills.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan.
- Must be authorized to work full-time in the USA. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired are required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
- Asbestos Management Planner and/or Project Designer certification.
- Experience with Phase I/II ESAs in accordance with ASTM E1527 and ASTM E1903.
- Familiarity with BEAs and Due Care Plans in accordance with Michigan Part 201 rules.
- Certified stormwater operator.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies including Michigan EGLE and EPA and navigating compliance requirements including underground storage tank removal and closure requirements.
