Job Summary
Reporting to the Regional Fleet Equipment Manager, the Fleet Specialist will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the company’s fleet operations, maintenance, and compliance. This position demands a keen ability to interpret and adapt guidelines, policies, and regulations to address specific challenges effectively. The Fleet Specialist will conduct thorough analyses of various issues, selecting the most appropriate courses of action while ensuring strict compliance with established standards. This role is integral to enhancing fleet performance and operational efficiency.
Fleet Equipment Evaluation
- Inspection and Evaluation Support: Conduct initial inspections of fleet equipment and compile reports on the condition of assets, helping to identify necessary repairs or replacements.
Equipment Management
- Receipt and Registration Assistance: Manage the in-service receipt and registration of fleet equipment, ensuring timely processing and documentation.
- Tracking Assets: Implement tracking systems for regional trucks, trailers, tools, and testing equipment, providing real-time updates to the Fleet Equipment Manager.
- Workflow Coordination: Collaborate with the Operations team to develop and review work plans, helping to establish efficient workflows and schedules.
Maintenance Practices
- Quality Control Implementation: Support the establishment and enforcement of fleet maintenance practices, ensuring quality control standards are met.
- Preventive Maintenance Management: Track preventive maintenance schedules and ensure that calibration programs and GPS systems are current, alerting the manager to any issues that arise.
Regulatory Compliance
- Compliance Tracking: Assist in developing and maintaining plans to ensure fleet compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by keeping accurate documentation and monitoring compliance status.
- Documentation Management: Ensure all fleet equipment is up to date with annual preventive maintenance, registrations, insurance, and other required safety compliance documents.
Reporting and Recommendations
- Data Analysis Support: Collect and analyze data on fleet performance metrics, such as maintenance costs and downtime, to prepare reports for the Regional Fleet Equipment Manager.
- Budgetary Recommendations: Assist in identifying trends and making recommendations related to budgetary and procurement issues based on data analysis.
- Required Skills and Abilities:
- Problem Solving: Utilize troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve fleet-related issues efficiently.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Adapt to changing priorities and work requirements while maintaining a high level of productivity.
- Independent Judgment: Exercise discretion in decision-making processes related to fleet operations and maintenance.
- Training Coordination: Help coordinate training sessions for fleet personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge about equipment operations.
Experience & Education
- Experienced in fleet, logistics and knowledge of some DOT standards
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
- Analytical skills, be detailed oriented, and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks.
- Microsoft Office skills, especially MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
- Must be willing to travel
- Must have a clean driving record
- High school degree or GED
