Position Overview :
As a member of the Human Resources Group, you will lead assigned business functions in day-to-day HR and LR activities and provide direction and leadership that aligns and supports our objectives, mission and culture. You will work strategically with assigned functional business leaders to improve working relationships, develop and enforce contractual terms and agreements, build engagement, increase output, attract and retain talent, including collaborating with COEs relative to strategic workforce planning.
This is an On-Site position and will to report to the facility in Marion, IN.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Partner with the HRLR Site Director in driving GM culture, promoting positive employee experiences and improving employee engagement
- Promote a positive working relationship with the union through consistent application of local and national agreements
- Negotiate and implement local and national agreements
- Participate in Joint Leadership Meetings and activities
- Ensure adherence to the Grievance Procedure
- Provide HR leadership for the site (i.e. talent planning, performance management, compensation planning, recruiting and selection, etc.)
- Ensure compliance to policy and support investigations of employee concerns
- Manage hourly, contract and salaried employment administration
- Facilitate training on HR policies, HR / LR procedures and contractual agreements including the UAW Local and National agreements
- Support People Involvement and implementation of our Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
- Support Marion Business Plan Deployment
- Support Organizational Key Initiatives and Goals for HR and LR GM Manufacturing this calendar year
Labor Relations :
Provide management representation in administering the provisions of agreements between union and managementCounsel management in the interpretation of agreements and act as management representative in dealing with the unionExercise independent judgment within general policies and procedures established by agreements; some direct guidance is received from supervisorAdvise management and other plant personnel on matters related to Union-Management relationshipsMaintain accurate records pertinent to Labor Relations (i.e. grievance filing, investigations, local agreements and practices, meeting minutes)Play a principal role in local negotiations; partnering with operations to identify strategic initiatives that drive competitiveness while focus on the employee experienceShare regular Labor Relations updates – Shop Committee grievance resolution meetingCoordinate the activities of various departments involved in resolving employee grievancesOrganize and develop cases relative to Management’s position within the grievance procedure (e.g., write grievance responses, identify supporting documentation, policies, etc.)Conduct special investigations as neededCoordinate with plant and unit management on matters concerning hourly personnelProvide guidance and resolution to conflictsAdminister shop rules when appropriateProvide oversight on cultural trends relative to grievances and take a proactive approach in addressing action plansResponsible for ensuring the proper manpower for the plant is maintained and assigned; actively monitoring attrition, retention, and forecasting utilizing data analytics to drive decisionsAdminister hourly hiring, contractual transfer provisions, and separations for permanent, temporary, and part-time employmentAdvise Management, Union and hourly employees on seniority issuesExercise independent judgment within general policies and procedures established by agreements; some direct guidance is received from supervisorFrequent involvement with other work groups (i.e. Benefits, Payroll, IT, National Employment Placement Center, Sedgwick, etc.) regarding employee issues, downstream data problems, or other pertinent matters)Ensure data integrity within Workday for workforce as neededMinimum Requirements :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to operate a computer by navigating different windows and programs, type into applications, review, and comprehend information within software programs; Engage in problem-solving, attention to detail, and multitasking as needed. You’ll handle up to 50 lbs. and move materials.
