What are the responsibilities and job description for the Magnaflux Booth Operator - Heat Treat - West - 1st shift position at NTN Driveshaft, Inc?
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Magnaflux operator has a critical responsibility within the Heat treat Department. The Magnaflux Operator is responsible for inspecting all product ran through the Heat Treat process for cracks and other critical defects before passing parts on to the Finishing Process.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform / record daily Magnaflux Station checks prior to beginning operation each day
- Magnaflux Booth Operation (submerging parts in mag bath solution, shocking parts before inspection)
- Visually Inspecting Heated Product (looking for cracks, forge laps, visual damage, etc.)
- Keeping a written log of all product ran through the Magnaflux process
- Printing J.D.E Labels / Tagging Baskets certifying product is OK to use for next process
- Ensuring all product is processed via F.I.F.O (First in First out)
- Communicating any defects found to the immediate shift team lead / supervisor
SKILLS/ABILITIES NEEDED:
- Excellent eyesight (all Magnaflux Operators must pass Internal Mag Certification testing before inspecting parts)
- Excellent clerical skills
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Basic mathematical calculations
- Organizational skills
- Good Attendance
- High School diploma required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for an 8 hour period (which includes break periods)
- Excellent eyesight
- Manual dexterity to operate machinery and handle parts.
- Must be able to lift objects up to 15lbs repetitively throughout an 8 hour period
- Vision to inspect parts for defects and ensure quality.
- Ability to work in a potentially noisy environment.
