What are the responsibilities and job description for the Set-Up Technician - IB Heat Treat - West - 2nd shift position at NTN Driveshaft, Inc?
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the set-up and start-up of production jobs as required to meet schedules and customer commitments. The set-up tech will have the ability and knowledge to change over shaft, CNC turning and induction heat-treat equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains cycle process integrity with the direction of the production supervisor
- Works with support department to ensure tools, machines and processes are optimized
- Recommends and implements changes and improvements to cycles, processes and procedures to maintain schedules and quality parts
- Maintain documentation and paperwork to support production cycles and procedures
- Works directly with process technicians to suggest improvements in processes and procedures
- Works with machine operators to improve current processes and procedures
- Performs set-ups, samples and other production related duties to maintain production schedules
- Assists with training as necessary
- Ability to read machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts
- Follow safety policies and report unsafe working conditions
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor, such as operating production line
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:
- 3 - 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment dealing with the operation of CNC equipment
- Familiarity of metrics, blueprint reading, micrometers, calipers, Rockwell and induction preferred
- Prior experience with set-up of gauging and programmable automation helpful
- Prior technical training desired
- Excellent verbal & written communications skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Capable of learning various software
- High School Diploma

- Ability to inspect machinery, read blueprints, and spot small issues or wear.
- Near-vision for adjusting machinery parts and reading dials.
