What are the responsibilities and job description for the Road Maintenance/Equipment Operator position at Nuckolls County Road Department?
Nuckolls County Road Department is accepting applications for 2 full time Class II Road Maintenance/Equipment Operators. One to be based out of our Nelson shop and one to be based out of the Ruskin shop.. A CDL is required or must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire. Continued employment depends on maintenance of a valid CDL. Employment is based on the results of a pre-employment drug test.
Some of the duties include:
Performs manual labor in the maintenance and upkeep of county roads, bridges, right-of-way, and county property. Such tasks may include, but not limited to, maintaining, mowing sign repair, painting, patching, bridge removal and repair, culvert removal and installation, loading and unloading materials, snow removal and ice control.
Performs preventative maintenance on County owned equipment and vehicles and assists in the servicing and repairs.
Operates all types of general maintenance equipment such as, but not limited to, trucks and truck/trailer units Over the GVWR of 26,000 lbs., light trucks, rollers, front end loaders, tractors, snow plows, motor graders, mowers, dozers, scrapers, etc.
Hauls materials such as gravel and rock for placement on county roads and bridge approaches. Hauls road and bridge materials to and from project sites.
