The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) is seeking a Social Media Associate or Social Media Officer (title to be determined based on candidate experience) to join the Communications team. This position reports to the Digital Director. This is a full-time hybrid position, working a minimum of three days a week in our Washington, DC office.NTI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan global security organization focused on reducing nuclear, biological, and emerging technology threats imperiling humanity. As an independent and trusted partner, we transcend traditional thinking and stimulate new ways to address urgent threats.The Communications team is responsible for managing NTI’s brand, enhancing program impact, and educating and engaging the public through dynamic, outcome-oriented campaigns.You will be responsible for NTI’s social media output and engagement. Specifically, you willManage an active social media content calendar that promotes NTI’s activities, experts, and brand to a broad audienceWrite copy and create content for all official social channels, including Twitter (X), LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Instagram Threads, and Bluesky.Stay engaged with the latest trends, tactics, and technology of social media platforms and the related digital ecosystemLeverage social channels to raise the profile of NTI experts, their work, and their public appearancesMonitor performance, sentiment, and discussion of NTI’s social media content and online activity related to nuclear, biological, and emerging technology threats.Proactively engage with audience members on social media through comments and direct messagingServe as brand ambassador for NTI on social media channels, maintaining the organization’s reputation as a respected thought leader in the spaceIntegrate social content and strategy into NTI’s digital and communications strategies, as well as overarching strategic prioritiesWhat are the requirements for the position? Preferred candidates will have : 3-5 years of relevant experience in non-profit organization, advocacy, government, or agency setting with demonstrated track record of leading a social media programExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and nuanceFluency in digital culture, social media best practices, and online communication stylesCollaborative spirit that is comfortable working with a wide range of personalities and perspectivesA self-starter mentality that will actively pursue opportunities to engage both core and new audiences in creative and compelling waysBachelor’s degree in relevant fieldWhat will set you apart?
