Basic Job Functions:
This position requires a willingness to rotate roll grinders, work rotating shifts, including weekends, and scheduled and unscheduled over-time. The role of the Roll Shop Chocker/Grinder includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining the quality of ALL CNC roll grinders, chocks and mill rolls which includes performing routine and preventative maintenance (PM) as needed.
- Chocking and de-chocking all types of rolls.
- Assist with the daily workflow through the roll shop based on the production schedule which includes the workflow between the roll shop, hot mill and cold mill.
- Performing crane and safety watches, assisting with preventative maintenance, changing out equipment, and performing maintenance work on down days.
- Ability to navigate/use RMS and Oracle computer programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1-year experience with Steel mill rolling processes.
- Experience with precision measuring equipment.
- Experience in a machine shop.
- Experience or cross training in operating all roll shop grinding CNC equipment.
- Overhead crane experience.
- Hot Mill or Roll Shop experience.
