Nucor Harris Rebar is North America's largest recycler and most diversified steel and steel products company.
Purpose:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Compensation includes $30 depending on experience, plus weekly production bonus and yearly Nucor Profit-Sharing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote a conduct consistent with Nucor's vision and values.
- Work with fellow Shop Leads and Supervisors to establish daily work assignments to maximize shift operations.
- Be responsible for department teammates' safety and shop housekeeping while meeting production quality and quantity standards on the shift.
- Conduct continuous department walkthroughs to maintain the highest safety standards.
- Help Leads assign mentors and train teammates in the safe and efficient use of equipment.
- Maintain shared responsibility and accountability with team safety and shop housekeeping, production, and quantity standards on the shift.
- Understand and assign daily workload to the team.
Basic Functions:
- Operate Shearing Machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
- Bend reinforcing steel bars to specific shape using Bending Machine.
- Move, assemble, and select material to be fabricated or shipped using Forklift and Overhead crane.
- Use various hand tools to assist in the fabrication process.
- Communicate continuously with Supervisors and other department Leads.
- Troubleshoot production problems to minimize delays and ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
- Maintain all department equipment.
- Perform Quality Control – conduct routine walkthroughs and inspections to ensure accurate fabrication, correct quantity, correctly tagged, and all tasks completed in a timely manner.
- Oversee inventory needs and assist in the ordering process.
- FOLLOW established policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Collect necessary data for production reports, timesheets, incentive calculations, and other reports as required by Supervisors.
- Operate computer equipment daily and efficiently.
- Maintain department in a clean and safe manner.
- Provide limited assistance to ensure shift work is done efficiently and on time.
- Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or local/state equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years in production environment or related experience.
- Minimum 3 years in supervisory role.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
- No new corrective actions within the past 24 months.
- No unexcused absences in the past 12 months.
- No Safety or Quality alerts in the past 24 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
- Working knowledge of all branch software programs, including Navision, Dayforce, aSa.
- Understanding of branch production flow.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA Industrial Safety Standards.
- OSHA 30 certified.
- Crane Trainer certified.
- Able to operate all department equipment efficiently.
Special Demands:
- This is a safety-sensitive position.
- Must be able to work overtime when required.
- Must be able to work any shift.
Physical Demands:
- Some heavy lifting may be necessary.
- Working conditions can be noisy, dusty, hot, or cold.
