Basic Job Functions:
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
The Purchasing Manager is responsible to lead and develop the Purchasing team in specific functions including, but are not limited to, processing requisitions/purchase orders, reviewing and approving new vendor set ups, enforcing Nucor’s commercial and legal contract terms and conditions, developing and maintaining relationships with key vendors/contractors, contributing to Nucor enterprise-wide purchasing efforts, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, maintaining supplier compliance files, maintaining and ensuring effective internal controls, and coordinating with operating departments on cost savings and improved processes. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Must be willing to work before and after regularly scheduled work hours as business conditions warrant.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- Four-year degree in Business, management or related field or 5 years of purchasing experience.
Preferences:
1. Prior Leadership experience
2. Experience in a manufacturing environment
