Basic Job Functions:
The EAF First Helper is a Lead person at the EAF and is required to safely operate the EAF to produce quality steel for the LMF. The EAF First Helper oversees and ensures that the steel chemistry, slag, and temperature are within the defined parameters for the required grade. The EAF First Helper is responsible for taking care of the refractory, efficiency, and cost associated with the EAF. The EAF First Helper is also responsible for assisting in the development of teammates.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of EAF experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Melt Shop experience
- Prior leadership experience
