Basic Job Functions:
The Maintenance/Setup position is primarily responsible for all aspects of safe operations of the rail spike production facility. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting spike producing equipment, developing and implementing projects for continuous improvement. Ensuring equipment produces prime spikes and must attain product knowledge for the purposes of inspection and disposition. Critical to this role is effectively communicating with the rail spike team, including leadership. Other job functions may include operation of forging equipment, operation of overhead cranes, operation of the locomotive, housekeeping, and other duties assigned. A positive attitude, a willingness to learn continually and a proactive approach to safety and housekeeping are necessary. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
- Fundamental Mechanical Theory knowledge.
- Basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years prior industrial mechanical maintenance experience
- Experience with various welding and oxy cutting operations
- Understanding of basic electrical theory
