Basic Job Functions
The role of the Process Control Level 2 Specialist is to work with the electrical/mechanical maintenance and production teams to maintain and optimize the mill processes. This will include using engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to trouble-shoot and improve both the process and equipment and to develop/implement future improvement plans. This will include both hardware and software and will likely require additional support outside normal business hours. The Process Control Level 2 Specialist must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed and must be able to meet all physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Process, Electrical, Automation or equivalent Engineering Degree
Proficient at several programing languages included but not limited to VB, C, C , C , C#
Experience managing, maintaining, and editing large databases.
Proficient with Virtual Machines, MSSQL Servers, and ORACLE
Proficient at Web Development using HTML/JavaScript/PHP.
Experience with QMOS MES

Communication-- The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.

Engineering and Technology--Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to work at hand.
Attention to Detail -- Thorough in accomplishing tasks, no matter how small they may be, and taking care to make sure that expectations are met.
Judgment/Decision Making-- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Preferences
Knowledge of communication protocols like DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet IP, and, Modbus.
Ability to rapidly understand complex control systems.
Knowledge of GE, Allen Bradley, and Siemens PLCs.
Knowledge of In Touch Wonderware, Factory Talk View, and Cimplicity HMIs.
