Basic Job Functions
The Power Systems Technician will support NSBC within the areas of, but not limited to, power distribution equipment design, maintenance, and operation (transformers, breakers, SVC’s, relays/trip units, etc.), electrical safety training, and will assist with electrical issues in any part of the mill. The Power Systems Technician will establish trusted relationships, seek to continuously improve, and be a resource to our maintenance and production teams.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years experience with power distribution equipment and maintenance
- Experience performing transformer testing including SFRA, TTR, and Power Factor
- Experience performing breaker testing including ductor, timing, and gas sampling
- Experience performing preventative maintenance, upgrades, installation, and commissioning of plant power distribution equipment (circuit breakers, disconnects, transformers, switchgear, etc.)
- NETA Level 2 or higher
- Troubleshooting experience with breakers, transformers, and capacitors.
- Experience with protection relay testing, replacement, coordination and adjustment
- Experience using NFPA 70E in arc flash hazard analysis, methods of hazard reduction, and PPE selection.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SKM, and Microsoft Office software
