The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $53,833.36 to $59,686.56, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description

Under supervision of the IDD Authority Director, performs routine (journey-level) administrative and supervisory program work.  Work involves assisting in establishing program goals and objectives; assisting in developing program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations; assisting in developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving program goals; and assisting in evaluating program activities.  Supervises the work of service coordinators in the Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) program.  Is compliant with Center policies and procedures, program protocols and requirements of other regulatory bodies.  Reviews clients referred by other LIDDAs, assists with caseload assignments, and tracks progress through the intake process. Participates in the quality assurance and utilization review processes for HCS Service Coordination unit to ensure quality of services and compliance with HHSC standards. Identifies problem areas, service gaps, and areas that are barriers to services for clients. Documents case records and prepares reports. Assists with intra- or interagency service coordination and referral problems.  Provides supervision and guidance to the IDD Medical Records department, and participates in NCMHID's Forms Committee, as needed. Performs related work as assigned. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business.  Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance, and a good driving record.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum: A minimum of a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.  At least 6 months experience assessing client needs and coordinating client services in IDD programs. Experience in social work. Experience working with persons with Intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Preferred: Meets criteria for a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP).  Experience in the administration of a program relevant to the assignment. Experience working for a Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority. Supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to the program area; of public administration and management techniques; of statistical analysis processes; of budget processes; of research techniques; of training and marketing techniques; and of program management processes and techniques.
  • Skill in identifying measures or indicators of program and staff performance and in operating a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; to establish goals and objectives; to devise solutions to administrative problems; to develop, evaluate, and interpret administrative policies and procedures; and to supervise the work of others.
  • In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
