Role Description
NuEnergen is seeking a General Manager for our Procurement, Auditing and Consulting business. The position is responsible for overseeing the profitability and operations of our electricity and gas broker/consultant services and our bill auditing services across multiple commodities and geographies. A solid understanding of the details of energy markets, third party supply, energy tariffs, and strong experience in client interaction are needed. The goal will be to continue to operate our existing business with excellence while expanding our offerings to emerging market segments such as data centers and crypto-mining and meeting our financial objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Auditing, Consulting, Sourcing business unit, with full responsibility for P/L and deliverables, and working with rest of leadership team to set strategic direction
- Engage in complex client conversations to support procurement strategies in PJM, NYISO, ISONE, ERCOT and SPP.
- Manage, develop and support team of analysts and data specialists.
- Oversee monthly deliverables including sourcing recommendations, budget development, utility bill audit reports, and energy dashboard services.
- Engage client service managers to ensure full understanding of nuances of client deliverables and join client service managers for face to face client meetings.
- Define different client hedging strategies and procurement approaches for all client types, including industrial, crypto mining, data centers, and commercial real estate
- Develop strong, collaborative supplier relationships to ensure full understanding of offerings and to set up beneficial client contracts.
- Communicate market conditions and develop market reports for key clients.
- Report business unit activities to management team.
- Upgrade tools and practices to improve team efficiency.
- Assist in complex client tariff analysis.
- Support Sales staff in creating customer proposals and assist with presentation to prospects.
- Some travel may be required to support client relationships, sales efforts and normal course of business.
Requirements
- 7-15 years of electric and gas energy market experience, particularly for energy consultants, brokers, suppliers, or utilities.
- Understanding of commodity market fundamentals, hedging and risk management strategies, and their effects on energy prices.
- Previous leadership experience required and past experience managing a P/L needed
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills required.
- Knowledge of utility tariffs and deregulated markets is necessary.
- Willingness to both lead the business unit and participate in detailed analysis needed.
- Ability to understand, distill and clearly communicate complex energy concepts into digestible, client-friendly formats both externally and internally.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in writing client recommendations and budget analysis
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills are required.
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools and managing large data sets.
- Ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics or Economics
Compensation is commensurate with experience. Base salary is expected to range from $150,000 to $160,000. NuEnergen offers a 401-K pension and profit-sharing plan and a competitive benefits package. www.nuenergen.com
