JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons within The Elmont. This role involves actively monitoring swimming areas, enforcing facility rules, providing immediate assistance during emergencies, and offering excellent customer service. Lifeguards will also maintain the cleanliness of the pool area and assist in pool maintenance when needed.
REPORTS TO: General Manager
LOCATION: The Elmont
SALARY / GRADE LEVEL: Hourly / Non-Exempt
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor Pool Area: Continuously observe swimmers to ensure their safety, responding swiftly to any potential risks or emergencies.
- Perform water rescues and administer first aid and CPR when necessary. Respond quickly and efficiently to accidents, injuries, or medical emergencies.
- Educate and enforce pool rules and regulations to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment for all swimmers.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, assisting patrons, and addressing any concerns or issues within the aquatic facility.
- Ensure that the pool deck is clear of debris, and report any maintenance needs, such as issues with pool equipment or water quality.
- Work closely with other lifeguards and staff to ensure a coordinated approach to pool safety and facility operations.
- Maintain accurate records of pool activities, safety checks, and incident reports as required by the Aquatics Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or equivalent) including CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Previous lifeguard experience preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
- Strong swimming ability and the physical stamina to perform rescues. Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to swim long distances, remain standing for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, reaching, and bending.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is typically performed indoors and outdoors at the resort. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work involves a majority of standing, bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, and some lifting up to 50 lbs.
