Job Title : Solution Designer / Java API Application Architect

Location : Whippany, NJ, Hybrid

Rate : Best competitive rate on W2

We are seeking a skilled Solution Designer with expertise in Java API application design for a 12-month contract role, based in Whippany, NJ. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge in architecting Java API-based applications, with a focus on efficiency, security, and scalability. You will collaborate with development teams to translate business needs into functional APIs, while adhering to industry best practices.

This is a hybrid position, requiring on-site presence at least two days a week.

Key Responsibilities :

API Architecture & Design : Design end-to-end Java API solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements. Define key aspects of API design such as endpoints, data structures, and security protocols, while adhering to industry best practices.
Collaboration : Work closely with development teams, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and alignment with project goals.
Security & Performance Optimization : Implement security measures (authentication, authorization, encryption) and optimize API performance, including caching, throttling, and load balancing.
Data Modeling & Integration : Design efficient data structures and schemas for seamless API-to-database interactions.
API Documentation : Create comprehensive API documentation, including detailed specifications, usage guidelines, and error codes for developers.
Version Control : Develop and maintain strategies for API versioning to ensure backward compatibility while introducing new features.
API Management : Oversee API cataloging and govern API specifications, ensuring consistency across different teams and projects.

Skills & Qualifications :

Java Frameworks : Experience with Spring Boot or other popular Java frameworks for building web services and APIs.

API Design Expertise : Proficiency in RESTful API design, API versioning, and design patterns such as HATEOAS. Familiarity with Swagger, OpenAPI, and Postman.

Java Programming : Strong foundation in core Java concepts including object-oriented programming, collections, multithreading, and exception handling.

Database Knowledge : Ability to design efficient data structures and schemas that facilitate optimal interaction between APIs and backend systems.

API Security & Performance : Knowledge of API security measures and optimization techniques to enhance reliability and scalability.

Collaboration & Communication : Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and document technical specifications clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical Documentation : Experience in creating clear and concise technical documentation for APIs, including usage instructions and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience working as a Java API Solution Designer in prior projects.

Ability to articulate and explain design decisions, particularly around API architecture.

Familiarity with agile development methodologies and collaborative project environments.

We are looking for Solution Designers with a focus on architecture and design, not Java Developers. Please do not submit profiles focused solely on Java development.
