This Highway Guardrail Installer position requires performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies and procedures and safety guidelines. In addition, this position requires a CDL license.

- Reading of plans and schematics.
- Layout of Highway Guardrail.
- Handling and installing all of the materials for guardrail installation.
- Loading and unloading materials on a flat-bed truck and/or trailer by hand, digging holes, using power tools, etc.
- Operation of Post Pounder/Driver Truck.
- Drive long distances to deliver materials to jobsites in a timely manner.
- Load, unload and record cargo deliveries. Maintain paperwork.
- Refuel and clean vehicle.
- Inspect trucks and record issues. Report road incidents to the dispatcher and report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
- Follow traffic laws and follow accident procedures.
- Keep an activities log and log hours. Plan routes using GPS system.
- Keep commercial driver requirements up to date.
- 3-5 years guardrail installation
- Proven work experience as a truck driver with extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)

- Must possess a current and Valid Class A CDL or commercial driver license
- Must possess the ability to drive manual transmission AND no "Manual Transmission Restriction" on license.
- Must be able to pass requirements on a FMCSA Clearinghouse Query
- Must provide a medical certificate
- Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
- Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds
- Operating hand/power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
- Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
- Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities
- Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
- Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone
- Communicating clearly - both written and verbally, ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
- Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime and working individually and as a team with other employees
- Valid driver's license required, will require passing MVR and controlled substance test, may require background and criminal record check. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
