DELI SERVICE / KITCHEN PREP
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is a Part-time position working under the supervision of the NuNu’s Fresh Market Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and/or Deli Supervisor.
Employee assists in the day to day functions of the Deli Department. Employee will assemble party trays, salads, sandwiches, and other deli items as needed. Employee prepares “Prepared Food†items for Deli Hot/Cold Cases and for customer orders. Employees serve from our Deli Service Counter as requested to customer specifications for plate lunches and other prepared food items. Unloads deli freight, stocks shelves and keeps deli area clean including but not limited to, properly washing and sanitizing dishes, sweeping, and mopping floors. Dependable, punctual, good work habits, detailed oriented, and a high energy level. All Employees must maintain a clean and presentable appearance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets all customers with a smile and a pleasant attitude.
- Performs kitchen duties as necessary.
- Assembles party trays, salads, sandwiches, and all other deli items.
- Communicates with customers in a professional manner.
- Takes customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Keeps deli areas neat, clean, and tidy including deli retail area, kitchen prep area, deli cooler, and deli freezer.
- Packages, weighs, and prices deli items.
- Cooks and prepares “Prepared Foods†as necessary.
- Follows recipes and procedures of NuNu’s Fresh Market.
- Maintains proper kitchen logs.
- Stocks bakery and deli shelves.
- Sweeps and mops.
- Washes and sanitizes dishes.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Serve-safe Certification preferred
- Experience with food service/customer service preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must have excellent communication and customer service skills, polite, and friendly.
- Skilled in reading and math.
- Able to understand and comply with NuNu’s Fresh Market’s policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of weights and measures.
- Must be safety conscious and able to handle sharp knives.
- Extensive knowledge of cooking terms and procedures.
- Able to understand and follow recipes and provide end product consistency.
- Able to prepare, slice, package, weigh, and price deli products.
- Ability to handle hot temperatures related to ovens, stoves, and fryers.
- Able to operate deli equipment including but not limited to: stoves, ovens, proofers, fryers, smokers, scales, and slicers.
- Able to attractively assemble party trays, fresh salads, sandwiches, and other deli items.
- Able to properly wash and sanitize large amounts of dishes.
- Able to use repetitive motion with hands and arms.
- Able to work well with different personalities.
- Able to follow instructions, multi task, and work well under stressful situations.
- Able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Able to bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
- Able to sweep and mop
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to work various shifts including weekends.
