QUALIFICATIONS:
License/Registration: Hold a current, un-encumbered license in this state as a Nurse Practitioner. Registered with the State Board of Registration in the state of Tennessee. Maintain adequate malpractice insurance as required by Generations Health Association, Inc.
Continuing Education: As required to retain license and registration.
Education: Master Degree in Nursing by a state accredited university
Experience: Prefer at least two (2) years experience that directly relate to the duties and responsibilities specified.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The person will be under direct supervision of a Psychiatrist/Medical Director, to provide, oversee and/or administer a wide range of psychiatric services including: evaluation/assessments, diagnosis, counseling therapy, crisis intervention and dedication management in a high intensity clinical environment that requires a high degree of independent decision making and program administration. Assists in providing clinical supervision to nursing personnel and students and/or interns engaged in related therapeutic/patient care activities, as appropriate to the individual position.
The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides intakes and establishes treatment plans, discharge plans, provides pharmacotherapy to include the prescribing of medications, dosage adjustments, treatment of adverse effects, etc.
- Evaluation of the effectiveness of medication in managing the disease state of the consumer.
- Evaluation of the medication for adverse side effects, adverse reactions, drug interactions, drug-food interactions and drug disease interactions.
- Educating the member about their disease state, the role of medications in managing their disease state, the importance of medication compliance, coping with adverse effects, adverse reactions and interactions which may accompany the medication.
- Identifying the need for initiating, continuing, discontinuing or altering the medication.
- Performing a complete mental status exam.
- Ordering lab work to monitor drug levels as well as adverse reaction/side effects.
- Coordinating of care with other members of the mental health team, the PCP and other health care providers.
- Collects data about patients through interview, case history, tests and or assessment techniques; evaluates data to identify causes in problems and to determine diagnosis and proper therapeutic approach and referral to their providers.
- Consults with other providers and related professional and clinical staff and refers to appropriate service as required.
- Provides mandatory pre-screening for members in crisis during normal business hours.
- Follows up to assess efficacy of medications and treatment used and makes adjustments and/or changes as indicated.
- Maintains medical record documentation to include psychiatric evaluations, CRG/TPG, referrals, medications lists, medical progress notes, lab orders and results, prescriptions, vital signs, flow records, treatment plans, discharge plans and documentation for MOTs. Consults with other legal and treatment providers as indicated.
- Provides clinical supervision to lower level clinical staff including LPNs, RNs, RNCs and students and/or interns.
- Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
