Nurse Salute LLC provides specialized technical support to government agencies. We are currently seeking a part-time Observatory Technician to support operations at the USGS Sitka Magnetic Observatory in Sitka, Alaska.
Job Type: Part-time, Contract (10-20 hour a month)
Responsibilities:
- Perform DI flux Absolute observations as per USGS guidelines.
- Monitor and verify data acquisition systems weekly.
- Conduct minor troubleshooting and maintenance of scientific instruments.
- Report equipment malfunctions within 4 hours of detection.
- Maintain facility cleanliness and order.
- Coordinate with USGS Technical Liaison and follow established guidelines for observations.
- Support other projects at the observatory as needed.
- Attend annual refresher visits for training and assessment.
Requirements:
- Experience with precise magnetic measurements or similar scientific measurements.
- Familiarity with theodolite instruments and magnetometers.
- Ability to perform data analysis and submit baseline calculations promptly.
- Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently following government guidelines and standards.
