Child Life Specialist

Responsibilities
- Assess the emotional and developmental needs of children in healthcare settings.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that incorporate play, art therapy, and other therapeutic modalities.
- Provide support to children and families by facilitating coping strategies during medical procedures.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure comprehensive care for pediatric patients.
- Organize and lead group activities that promote socialization and emotional expression.
- Educate families about the medical process and available resources to support their child's well-being.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and progress.
Skills
- Proficiency in art therapy techniques to enhance emotional expression and coping.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology to understand medication effects on children’s behavior and emotions.
- Experience in gender issues counseling to provide inclusive support for all patients.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to create a safe, supportive environment that encourages healing through play and creativity.
- Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple cases simultaneously.
