Overview of the Role :

As a Medical Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing the medical direction of our client's participant care. This involves delivering outstanding clinical outcomes, leading quality improvement initiatives, and crafting impactful medical policies and procedures. Your leadership will extend to supervising primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff, as well as coordinating care with community providers. Working collaboratively in a managed care setting, you will ensure optimal resource use and contribute significantly to the organization's mission.

Responsibilities :

  • Clinical Leadership :

Oversee participant care delivery and clinical outcomes.

  • Guide and supervise the medical services team.
  • Policy & Standards :
  • Develop and refine medical policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Establish and maintain PACE clinical standards and medical practice protocols.
  • Quality Improvement :
  • Oversee the Quality Improvement Plan.

  • Review quality of care issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Team Development :
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team training.

  • Conduct physician performance appraisals.
  • Develop and implement educational programs for healthcare providers.
  • Communication & Collaboration :
  • Collaborate with the Contract Manager regarding provider network communication.

  • Represent the organization at external agencies and professional groups.
  • Requirements :

  • Education & Licensure :
  • M.D. or D.O. with a current state medical license.

  • DEA registration.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice preferred.
  • Advanced certification in geriatrics a plus.
  • Experience :
  • Experience in a managed care environment.

  • Demonstrated success in resolving utilization, quality management, and performance improvement issues.
  • Minimum 3 years in a lead administrative role within healthcare.
  • Preferably 1 year of experience working with frail or elderly populations.
  • Other :
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.

  • Clearance for communicable diseases and current immunizations.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Skills and Abilities :

  • Communication : Strong verbal, written, and public speaking skills.
  • Geriatric Knowledge : Understand the physical, mental, and social needs of older adults.
  • Clinical Expertise : Competence in physical assessment and chronic disease management in the elderly.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Effective collaboration within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Technical Proficiency : Basic computer skills.
  • Professionalism : Excellent organizational skills, flexibility, resourcefulness, and ability to engage with diverse populations effectively.
