DON Director of Nursing
Monday - Friday * weekends and after hours might be necessary to address urgent situations.
The DON Director of Nursing is responsible for administration of nursing service in the Center. He/she directs, plans, and coordinates service activities of professional Nursing and auxiliary Nursing personnel in rendering customer care. The DON Director of Nursing interprets Center policies and regulations to all Nursing personnel and ensures compliance, as well as analyzes and evaluates Nursing and related services rendered to improve quality of customer care and to better utilize staff time and abilities. The DON Director of Nursing also ensures the provision of in-service training programs for nursing personnel.
DON Responsibilities
- Participates in the development and/or the implementation of philosophy, objectives, policies, and standards of Nursing practice in accordance with the goals of the organization
- Maintains adequate Nursing coverage to provide safe Nursing care for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assure that all customers are treated fairly, with compassion, dignity, and respect
- Works with the Administrator to develop, allocate and control the budget for the Department of Nursing Services
- Collects and analyzes clinical data from internal and external sources for Quality Assurance measures. Presents findings and plans for continuously improvement monthly to the Quality Assurance/Risk Management Committee
- Completes daily rounds on the units to observe customers and to determine if Nursing needs are being met
- Provides direction to Nursing staff through written policies, procedures, Nursing administration meetings, routine staff meetings, and written memos
DON Requirements
- Valid RN nursing license
- Ability to quickly learn and navigate Point Click Care software
- Valid CPR & IV Certification
- Clinical Leadership experience required
