Duties :
In this multifaceted role spanning various disciplines, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and microbiology, you will be responsible for conducting tests and analyzing a wide range of biological specimens. This includes blood, tissue samples, and more, all of which are assessed using both manual and automated techniques.
Your duties encompass, but are not limited to, the following :
- Performing Diverse Tests : Conducting a variety of tests on biological specimens and environmental samples using both manual and automated methods.
- Multidisciplinary Laboratory Work : Engaging in a range of laboratory disciplines such as chemistry, microbiology, immunology, hematology, and immunohematology.
- Problem Solving : Evaluating and resolving issues related to the collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis, taking into consideration physiological processes and specific requirements.
- Daily Lab Operations : Executing day-to-day laboratory operations, including routine testing, quality control, regular maintenance of instrumentation, and troubleshooting.
- Procedure Development : Developing, performing, evaluating, interpreting, correlating, and validating the accuracy of laboratory procedures and their results.
- Quality Control : Monitoring quality control systems and measures to ensure the precision and reliability of test outcomes.
- Education : Providing educational support for laboratory healthcare professionals and the general public, as needed.
- Problem Identification and Solutions : Identifying discrepancies, solving problems, and proposing effective solutions.
- Equipment Maintenance : Maintaining and documenting the optimal functioning of laboratory equipment, identifying malfunctions, performing necessary repairs, and conducting preventive maintenance. This also involves diagnosing deviations in test performance resulting from instrument malfunctions.
- Quality Assurance : Performing and documenting quality control and assurance activities, along with implementing corrective actions related to test performance using statistical principles and theories of performance improvement.
- Results Interpretation : Addressing inquiries about test results, methodology, specificity, sensitivity, and other relevant factors. You will interpret results and recommend follow-up tests when necessary.
- Effective Communication : Communicating effectively and courteously while collaborating as a vital member of the healthcare team. This includes delivering exceptional service as defined by the customer, which encompasses healthcare providers, patients, and others. You will also provide direction and guidance based on the underlying principles of laboratory testing.
