Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Continuing education is required
Ability to operate basic technology
Criminal, FBI and Child Maltreatment background checks are performed and required
Child Development Associate or AA/BA degree in a child related field preferred, but not required.

Job Description – Classroom
Responsible for a group of children. Performs activities that ensure the health, safety, and progress for each child in the group. Reports to the Director.
Specifics Duties of the Job
- Provides for children’s care and protection: changes diaper, feeds each child, and ensures the cleanliness of each child in the group including but not limited to changing their clothes, attends to potty accidents, wiping faces and other body parts, and keeping them free of mucus or other excretions.
- Help children learn to adapt to, and cope with, real-life situations and to develop appropriate habits in such activities such as eating, dressing, napping and personal hygiene.
- Meets the emotional needs of each child: talks with, smiles at, and shows affection to each child.
- Satisfies the developmental needs of each child: reads to, plays with, and entertains and provides learning opportunities for each child and the group as a whole.
- Plans and executes special activities daily/curriculum. Plan, schedule and implement the daily program of appropriate developmental experiences for a classroom group of children.
- Maintain progress records on the emotional, physical, social and intellectual development of assigned children.
- Greets each parent/guardian and child daily, regardless of time of day (afternoon or evening).
- Gives children undivided attention, watching carefully for safety hazards.
- Make daily observations of the health of children, reporting conditions that require attention; administer first aid treatment.
- Cleans classroom at the end of each day (according to checklist).
- Completes a Daily Report for each child. (Daily Report outlines child’s care and needs)
- Respect the dignity and basic rights of each child.
- Respects the independence of each child and respects the child’s need to do things on their own.
- Communicates with parent/guardian concerning child’s progress.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops, and career development and professional activities.
- Ensure that equipment and materials are accessible, appropriate, and in good condition.
- Perform classroom-related maintenance duties.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
NO discipline is used with children under two years old —positive redirection, caring, and understanding only. Enforces Company discipline policy as outlined in Parent Handbook.

- Must be able to maneuver at least 500 feet at a time, without a sitting rest break, in order to travel to a person who would need quick assistance.
- Must be able to maneuver to/from standing and to/from floor and get up without assistance, adjusting to one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, to adequately provide care and communicate with children and maneuver classroom spaces.
- Specific vision abilities required by depth perception and ability to adjust focus in order to perform documentation and supervision components of the job.
- Most days, employee will be working a portion of the day outside in temperatures ranging from 20F with wind chill to 90F. Temperature ranges may vary. Adequate clothing should be brought to work to provide comfort for the employee. (winter jacket, hat, gloves, boots, rain shields, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.)
To be successful working as an Early Childcare Professional, you must be empathetic to all the children's needs in your room including emotional needs. Childcare Professionals should be caring and detail oriented. Childcare Professionals should be prepared to meet the physical demands of the classroom and have an understanding of childhood development. Most importantly, an Early Childhood Education should be passionate about children and making a positive impact in every child's life that walks through their doors.
