We are seeking a Mathematical Biologist to work on an exciting project exploring the evolution and ethics of punishment. The successful candidate will be developing and analysing mathematical models of the evolution of punishment institutions, and will be supervised by Assoc. Prof. Ryan Chisholm, who leads a vibrant theoretical ecology lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS). This interdisciplinary project also involves philosophers at NUS. It seeks to build bridges between evolutionary understandings of the origins of punishment and ethical views on the morality of punishment.
The Main Responsibilities Of The Position Include:
Ph.D. in Mathematical Biology or a related field
Skills:
Mathematical analysis of dynamical systems. Computational analysis of dynamical systems (e.g., in R, Python, or C ). Expertise in evolutionary game theory. Translation of Biological problems into Mathematics. Writing Mathematical Biology papers for broad biological audiences.
