The target pay range for this position is $124,531 - $150,138 annually.The full pay range is $111,531 - $174,446.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Exercises extensive knowledge of industry best practices and innovative technology in developing the Emergency Preparedness strategy and program for a future NuScale site.
- Integrates customer needs with existing or proposed regulations to create emergency preparedness strategies and plans utilizing an optimized emergency response organization (ERO) in support of Combined Operating License (COL) applicants.
- Supports oversight of NuScale emergency preparedness activities to ensure stakeholders are applying consistent risk-informed regulatory guidance.
- Creates emergency plans in support of COL applicants referencing the NuScale design.
- Supports planning and performance of hostile action-based drills.
- Supports industry and government meetings that shape rulemaking efforts for emergency preparedness.
- Has broad engineering experience in multiple areas or depth and expertise of nuclear power plant operational principles, techniques, and practices to support Combined Operating License Application (COLA), and construction/commissioning integration strategy. This may include the following areas: Concept of operations, Startup and Commissioning, ITAAC, Training, Work Planning and Control, and Operational design reviews.
- Develops resolutions for complex problems using professional operational principles and company objectives to resolve unique situations.
- Exercises judgment within broadly defined policies and practices using professional principles and company objectives to resolve complex issues.
- Able to support large projects and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Collaborates with team members to ensure solutions are vetted and deliverables are of high quality.
- Regularly interacts with management and other organizations on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Presents technical information concerning NuScale projects to the NRC and other stakeholders on behalf of NuScale.

- Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
- Education: Minimum of a B.S. degree in physical sciences or a related technical field from a four-year accredited college or university, or the equivalent, or equivalent training and experience required.
- Experience: A minimum of 8 years progressively responsible experience in the nuclear industry required. In-depth understanding of nuclear plant operating concepts, principles, and theories and thorough understanding of the interface between emergency preparedness and plant operations is required. Must have demonstrated successful leadership skills.
- Preferred skills:
- Working knowledge of nuclear industry efforts to reduce costs and minimize regulatory burden in the areas of emergency preparedness is preferred. PWR SRO or certification is desirable. Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions. Previous SGI clearance is desirable.
- Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
- Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers.
- Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environment.
- The employee frequently is required; to sit and stand; walk; bend, use hands to operate office equipment; and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to travel nationally and locally using common forms of transportation.
